The Commune of Żechlinek is situated in the Voivodeship of Łódź, in the northern part of the Poviat of Tomaszów. It adjoins the following communes: Jeżów, Głuchów, Rawa Mazowiecka, Czerniewice, Lubochnia, Budziszewice and Koluszki.

It makes use of direct traffic connections:

  • from the east with the national road no. 8, i.e. Warsaw–Katowice,
  • from the north with the national road no. 72, i.e. Łódź–Rawa Mazowiecka,
  • from the west and south-west with the voivodeship road no. 715, i.e. Ujazd–Koluszki.

Area

The area of 92 sq. km is inhabited by 3,374 people. The average population density is less than 37 people per 1 sq. km which is the lowest in the entire poviat. This scarce population should be perceived as an environmental asset as air is less polluted and closer contact with nature is facilitated. The unemployment rate does not differ from the up-to-date stable one in the Poviat of Tomaszów and reaches ca. 8.20%.

This ones agricultural commune has been changing its function to combine agriculture, services and industry because of low soil suitability for agriculture (there are primarily soils belonging to 5th and 6th class in this commune). The number of people employed outside agriculture keeps increasing, with excellent development of technical infrastructure, erection of single-family housing estates, people adopting an urban lifestyle.

Industry

Industrial plants created in the commune are scattered. The most important raw materials required for industrial development include materials derived from plants and animals. They are the grounds for the flour milling industry and meat processing. Here, one can also find thriving bakeries and active plants manufacturing plastic and cardboard packagings.

Infrastructure

The commune can boast well-developed technical infrastructure. Close to 100% of the commune area has water supply systems, and 25% of it is served by the sewage ones. Roads are paved, and the public utility buildings offer excellent infrastructure for tasks aimed at satisfying the basic community needs. An important asset is that the commune has a local zoning plan for 100% of its area which facilitates the decision-making process of prospective investors.
